# Reorder Preferences

> Persist a new display order for the preferences list.

Accepts an ordered list of preference ids and updates each item's
``position`` value so the list is returned in the requested order on
subsequent fetches. Only preferences that belong to ``thread_id`` are
affected; unknown ids are silently ignored.

Args:
    payload:   Ordered list of preference ids (new order).
    user:      Authenticated owner.
    thread_id: Target conversation.
    db:        Database session.

Returns:
    The reordered list of ``PreferenceSchema`` objects.
